New application procedure for long-term stays to Luxembourg

From 1 October 2026, application procedures for long-term stays exceeding 90 days are changing.

Up until now, applications for a Temporary Authorization to Stay were sent directly by post to the General Department of Immigration.

Under the new procedure, an application for a long stay visa (D visa) is to be submitted to the Embassy of Luxembourg in the country of origin or country of residence of the applicant.

Application for long-term stays exceeding 90 days to Luxembourg

Temporary Authorization to Stay (AST) Letters which have already been issued remain valid in accordance with the conditions set out therein.
