Presentation of Decoration to Mr. Hajime Sawabe
On the 2nd of September, the Embassy of Luxembourg in Tokyo hosted a ceremony to award Mr. Hajime Sawabe national decorations on behalf of the Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
Mr. Hajime Sawabe, Honorary Consul General of Luxembourg in Tokyo since 2001 and former Chairman of TDK Corporation, was conferred upon the Commander of the Order of the Oak Crown, in recognition of his extensive contributions to strengthening bilateral relations between Luxembourg and Japan.
Prior to his appointment as Honorary Consul General, Mr. Sawabe had held the position of president of TDK Luxembourg from 1991 to 1996, before becoming CEO and later Chairman of TDK. Throughout his tenure, Mr. Sawabe has steadily supported the Embassy in Tokyo by organizing events for high-level delegations from Luxembourg in Japan and forging invaluable connections between Luxembourg and Japanese stakeholders. His unwavering engagement fostering the relations between Luxembourg and Japan over the past thirty years is deeply valued by the Grand Duchy.
Mr. Sawabe had previously received the “Commander of the Order of Merit” in 1996 and the “Commander of Civil Order of Adolph of Nassau” in 2004.
