Mgr Jean-Claude Hollerich, the newly appointed Archbishop of Luxembourg

On Saturday 22 October Mgr Jean-Claude Hollerich, the newly appointed Archbishop of Luxembourg, celebrated mass at the St.Ignatius Church (Sophia University), on the occasion of his brief visit to Tokyo.

Afterwards, the Embassy and the Luxembourg community offered a reception in his honour. Members of the catholic community of St.Ignatius and students of Sophia University joined in congratulating Father Hollerich on his recent consecration and thanked him for his spiritual guidance and action in the service of our country.

One of the outstanding members of the Luxembourg community in this country, Jean-Claude Hollerich spent more than twenty years in Japan, first studying the language, then teaching at Sophia University, and finally being promoted to Vice President  for Academic Exchange( in charge of international student exchanges).

He was appointed Archbishop of Luxembourg, effective 16th October.
